Who will engrave his name in the history of football?

AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan will present the 2022 Brownlow Medal on Sunday evening after the big event was moved to avoid a clash with Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral.

McLachlan will read the votes for every game in his final Brownlow tally before stepping down as league boss in the coming months.

Brisbane Lions star Lachie Neale is the favorite to win the AFL’s highest individual honor and become Brownlow’s 15th multiple winner following his win in the 2020 tally.

But it’s a tight field, with Carlton captain Patrick Cripps, Melbourne star Clayton Oliver and Fremantle’s Andrew Brayshaw all hot odds in the betting markets.

The 2022 Brownlow medal count will take place on Sunday, September 18 at the Crown Palladium in Melbourne.

It was originally scheduled for Monday evening but was brought forward 24 hours to avoid a clash with the Queen’s funeral.

Guests will begin arriving at the venue at 5:15 p.m. and the Channel 7 broadcast will begin at 7:00 p.m. AEST.

McLachlan is expected to read the first votes around 7:35 p.m.

The winners of the AFL Mark of the Year, Goal of the Year and Jim Stynes Community Award will also be announced during the night.
